Our History
Slocum Architects was founded in 1970 as Dick W. Slocum, Architect and incorporated in 1981 as
Slocum Associates, Inc. The firm started as the sole architect for Old Kent Bank (Now Fifth Third) and
over the years expanded our project types to include not only financial institutions, but offices,
restaurants, retail, industrial, senior living facilities, health care, dental, camping, recreational facilities
and manufacturing.

Approach
Slocum Associates, Inc. is an award-winning full service architectural firm. Since our inception, our goal
has been to achieve quality projects that were designed to fulfill both the function and aesthetic needs of
the individual client.
Our leading philosophy has always been to provide the highest level of service to provide designs to meet
clients budget, aesthetic and functional goals, while incorporating energy efficient concepts. We believe
that we have remained true to our philosophy, based on the fact that the majority of our work is with our
repeat clients, in which we have developed long-term working relationships with.
We believe in working closely with our clients and find at the heart of every successful project is a strong
relationship between the Client and Architect. The more knowledgeable and involved in the design
process a client is, the more likely they are to fully enjoy the final product. We credit the success of our
projects to our “team approach” throughout the design process.

Slocum Associates, Inc. provides architectural and interior design services. Additional services that we provide through partnerships with consulting firms are site planning, civil engineering, surveying, landscape design, expanded interior design services, mechanical, electrical and kitchen design.
